Willamette Valley

This region is named after the Willamette (wil-LAMM-met) River that runs through it. Two of Oregon’s biggest universities are here: The University of Oregon (go Ducks!) and Oregon State (go Beavers!). It’s also where the very first Nike shoe was created.

Plants grow really well in the Willamette Valley so there are a lot of pumpkin patches, fruit orchards and fields of colorful flowers. The famous Oregon Garden in Silverton has a trolley that you can ride from one end to the other!

There’s a lot to do in the Willamette Valley: snowboard, ride bikes, river-raft – you can even visit the world’s largest wooden plane!
