The Coast

Oregon CoastThe Oregon Coast is 363 miles long. It has sandy beaches that are perfect for building sandcastles, flying kites and hunting for seashells that wash ashore. The coast also has cliffs that drop hundreds of feet into the ocean, and giant sand dunes that reach 500 feet into the sky!

Along the shore, there are 11 historic lighthouses. Some even allow you to climb their winding staircases for views of the ocean below (keep your eyes open for gray whales).

There is so much to do at the coast. You can rent dune buggies, hike, surf, fish, boat—even search tide pools for colorful sea creatures. And many of the hotels have swimming pools to splash around in. That is, if you have time between building sandcastles and collecting seashells!
