Dinosaurs & Submarines

Travel back in time 200 million years at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry’s (OMSI) new exhibit, Dinosaurs: China’s Ancient Giants. Beware, because the T. rex had 8-inch-long teeth—the largest of any meat eater ever, helping it devour 500 pounds of meat in just one swallow! OMSI is also home to the USS Blueback submarine, the U.S. Navy’s last fast attack submarine. It even offers submarine sleepovers.

Catch A Wave
Waves, water slides and pizza! Yippee! It’s all at the North Clackamas Aquatic Park in the nearby town of Milwaukie (15 miles from downtown Portland). This indoor, year-round water park has a kiddie pool for your younger brother or sis and gigantic water slides, a wave pool and inner tubes for you. There’s even a Pizza Schmizza Café (yum) and a brand-new rock-climbing wall.

Fun At The Oregon Zoo
At the Oregon Zoo, you can walk across a 100-foot suspension bridge at Black Bear Ridge, wear lorikeets on your head, or visit Packy, the largest (and oldest) Asian Elephant born in a North American zoo.

Get up close to African slender-snouted crocodiles, saki monkeys, tree kangaroos, Visayan Warty pigs (sound cute, huh?) and hundreds of other species. Don’t forget to hop aboard the Oregon Zoo train for a zip around the zoo!
