Portland Metro

In Portland, you can cruise the Willamette River on a huge boat called the Portland Spirit. You can soar over the treetops at the World Forestry Center’s Discovery Museum, or watch professional basketball, baseball, lacrosse, hockey and soccer.

At the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve in nearby Hillsboro, you can see a humongous bald eagle’s nest that’s 7 feet wide (bet that’s longer than your bed) and 11 feet high. And it weighs 1,500 pounds!

You can even hold a real buffalo chip (that’s buffalo dung) at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Back in pioneer days, kids had to collect the chips (gross!), which were used like wood in campfires.
