Eastern Oregon

Eastern Oregon is wide-open land with beautiful prairies, rivers, mountains, deserts and lakes. This region is famous for its wildlife viewing, ancient fossils and cattle ranches. Yes! Young cowboys and cowgirls still ride the range. You can learn all about cattle drives at the “Cowboys Then & Now” exhibit at the Union County Museum in Union. Or visit Peter French’s Round Barn, where wild horses still roam the sagebrush.

Did you know that pioneers on the Oregon Trail passed through this region? You can still walk in the tracks of their wagon ruts! You can learn about the Native Americans who have always lived here at the Sherman County Museum in Moro.
